It’s a slow life, but a wonderful one.

And I love that in doing what I do, I get to share it with people in my own small way. To find a hidden beach on my travels, and add it to my welcome guides when I get home. To make reservations for you at a restaurant I know you’ll love, or maybe even just point you in the direction of the best ice cream!

This place, this way of life, is so special to me. And as my guests here, I want to give you a chance to fall head-over-heels in love with the place as much as I have.

My story

I’m Georgina. A wild-swimmer, a dog-lover, a friendly introvert, and a slow-living enthusiast enjoying life on the Dorset Coast.

I live in my cosy home in Weymouth with my husband Danny, and our gorgeous cocker spaniel, Bear.

We've had Bear for almost two years now. She’s wild, crazy, so loving, and just the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Danny’s very loud, very funny (and now I think about it, a little like a spaniel himself!)

I love going for long walks in the countryside or along the coast, finding little pockets of untouched beauty and quiet. And I love sea swimming. There’s nothing better than being in the ocean; the ebb and flow of the waves, feeling like you’re the only person in the world.

I’m an old soul at heart, and I often feel like I’ve been on this planet before.

My weekends consist of days at the allotment, long walks with Bear and Danny, plans with my family, or friends. Summer weekends are filled with camping trips; winter ones with cosiness.

How it all began

The first property I ever managed was a property in the family.

When my mum was here, she owned a beauty salon on the outskirts of Weymouth. When she passed away, the business sadly went with her. But the property was still ours, too filled with love and memory to ever be sold, waiting patiently for a purpose.

My mum, Joanne, had always dreamed of running her own B&B. And it felt so natural- serendipitous, even- to take this piece of her, and turn it into something she would’ve loved.

So that’s what we did. My dad and I carefully renovated the place together, filling it with thoughtful details, stylish touches, and subtle invitations to unwind. And when it was finished, it became Joanne's Retreat.

Word spread, my business grew, and I now manage a small collection of holiday homes along the Jurassic Coast. I work closely with my fellow owners to elevate our properties beyond the ordinary, to become stylish, welcoming homes. Places we're proud to call our own; places our guests want to return to year after year.

As Höst grows as a company, my aim is to offer an all encompassing experience to guests so we are now seeking land on a permanent basis to site our restored, eco-friendly shepherd hut, Hydda.

If you think that this is something that would compliment your business (glamping site, farm, pick your own patch) or you just so happen to have some land that is no longer of any use to you, but would like to make some money from it - please do get in touch, I would love to hear from you.
